Portraits at the Driskill

From our session with Kirstinia she looks lovely in her elegant dress.  We shot this at the Driskill Hotel downtown.  You can book photo session’s here.  Check the web site for a contact and pricing.  You can also call and contact the Director of Public Relations. There are so many great spots to photograph here.  The Driskill is famous for its Christmas Tree in December.  Many photogs descend upon this location for some great shots and HDR’s!   Thanks again to Mike Tuuk for assisting me on this session!

Senior Portraits

I finally had a chance to head downtown Austin for a Senior photo shoot with Kirstinia.  We had a crew!  My little one, Kirstinia’s family and I had some super excellent help from my good friend Mike Tuuk and his son Evan as well!  They assisted me on lighting.  For this shot it was just 2 Nikon SB-700’s on each side, one with an umbrella and one just with a diffuser attachment.  We walked by this spot and we knew we had that perfect urban look.  I seriously need to go back here and HDR this area.  Super cool.

SXSW – Juke Kartel

I attended SXSW this year in Austin as one of my favorite bands called “Juke Kartel” was playing an acoustic set  downtown.  It was great to meet the band and lead singer Toby Rand (above).  Bunch of nice Aussie guys! I asked Toby if I could take some shots and he said no problem!  It was my first band photos ever!  Just used an on camera flash as there were quite a few people at the bar and I tried to stay out of their way!

Austin, Texas – Photowalk Session

From a bit ago..I had posted this shot on my Places 2 Explore blog.  One of my fav portrait shots to date.  The model’s name is “Eight” and she has been posing for our local photogs in the last few months.  I plan to shoot with her again in May. She is awesome and def knows how to strike a pose!

Black & White Portraits

With the Nikon Creative Lighting System…a flash in the afternoon becomes a great source for extra kick light!  My goal is to master this method in the next year!  I have seen photo shoots with Joe McNally when he uses 12 lights!!  Yikes!   I hope to just use 3 for now.  He is a super pro!
